Fear Of Panic Attacks – Will It Stop?
This thought is probably something that is uppermost in your mind all the times as a panic attack sufferer. The intensity of feelings that a panic attack brings can be extremely frightening. You might feel like you are going crazy and have lost control.
The sheer force with which a panic attack can hit you with can leave you totally debilitated. It can happen at any time and for no apparent reason.
It is very difficult to block out the fear of panic attacks as you know what to expect if you have already experienced one. But panic attacks are very common. As many as 10% of the population can be affected in a single year.
Many people have just one or two, sometimes brought on at an extremely stressful time, for example getting married, moving house or sitting an exam. Others who experience attacks can have them for months or even years.
Some people will undoubtedly go on to develope panic disorder which is a serious health issue. Panic disorder sufferers usually experience ongoing, severe episodes of attack accompanied by extreme anxiety. The constant fear of panic attacks is a main symptom of panic disorder.
To get back to a normal daily routine and live without constant worry of panic, it is necessary to escape from the fear of panic attacks itself. This is not an easy loop to break free from without some kind of help though some people do seem to manage it.
The type of lifestyle you lead can have some bearing on why you are experiencing attacks. Are you under a lot of stress? We all know that stress is no good for us and can aggrevate any conditions we might have and is actually the cause of other medical problems. Examine your lifestyle, are things just too hectic? Something has to give.
Once you gain an understanding of what panic attacks are all about, and that you will not come to any harm, your fear of panic attacks should be greatly reduced. You will recover from having attacks, hopefully sooner rather than later.
